The Mayor of Akhouryan Village Hasn’t Given Up on Getting “City” Status

Akhouryan is a rural community, but its population and municipal structures supercedes many of the smaller cities in Armenia. In population, Akhouryan with its 10,406 residents, only lags behind the Gegharkounik town of Vardenis with its 10,702 residents. Presently, no one has presented a standard for differentiating a village from a town, but based on the example of Akhouryan were can categorically state that it isn't based on population or municipal infrastructure. Nevertheless, is the status of a town mandatory for community development? Studio Hetq’s guests today are Akhouryan Mayor Artzrouni Igityan, Municipaly Council member Vahan Mkhitaryan and Hovhannes Baghdasaryan.
