Pashinyan Visits Etchmiadzin; Campaigns for Civil Contract Candidate for Mayor

Nikol Pashinyan travelled to Etchmiadzin to back Diana Gasparyan in her bid to become mayor of this town, where the seat of the Armenian Apostolic Church is located.

Gasparyan, one of the twelve candidates running for the post, is a member of Pashinyan’s Civil Contract party.

She became the acting Etchmiadzin mayor in June when Karen Grigoryan, son of retired army general and MP Manvel Grigoryan, resigned as mayor  in the face of mounting pressure.

Pashinyan addressed a public gathering, urging voters to “stage yet another revolution” and elect the town’s first woman mayor.

Residents of Etchmiadzin go to the polls on October 21 to elect a new mayor.
