Vigen Sargsyan Urges Pashinyan to Vote for Republican Party of Armenia in December 9 Parliamentary Election to Have "True Opposition"

Vigen Sargsyan, a former Armenian defense minister who will be heading the Republican Party of Armenia’s ticket in the December 9 snap parliamentary election, told reporters today that ex-President Serzh Sargsyan and ex-Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan will not campaign for the party’s candidates.

Vigen Sargsyan said the party’s ticket will include Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) members and those from other parties, as well as independents.

He argued that the HHK would serve as a true opposition to Pashinyan’s new government, unlike other political parties in the new parliament.

Sargsyan called on Pashinyan to vote for the HHK in order to have a true opposition party in the parliament.

“I believe, that if Nikol Pashinyan is sincere about his desire to build a new Armenia, he will, alone in the voting booth, cast his ballot for the HHK. If not, it means he just wants a fake opposition under his control,” Sargsyan said.
