Acting Armenian First Deputy Prime Minister Ararat Mirzoyan today, in Yerevan, hosted  Clément Nyaletsossi Voule, the United Nations’ Special Rapporteur on the Rights to Freedom of Peaceful Assembly and of Association, who is visiting Armenia to examine the status of the issue.

In his capacity as Special Rapporteur, Voule submits annual reports to the U.N. Human Rights Council and the General Assembly. He will present such a report at the Council’s 41st session next June.

According to the Armenian government website, Mirzoyan told Voule that democracy and the exercise of peaceful assembly are the only path leading to development and that such values are at the core of the new Armenia’s government.

Voule, from Togo, was appointed Special Rapporteur in April 2018.
