Appeals Court Rejects Robert Kocharyan's Slander Case Against Pashinyan

Armenia’s Civil Appeals Court has rejected a slander case filed by Robert Kocharyan, Armenia’s second president, against Acting Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

Kocharyan argues that Pashinyan maligned his good name and reputation when he said the following:

“…They say he has immunity. What does immunity mean? In other words, you can organize the killing of people and say, ‘I have immunity’? Where is such a thing write.”

On December 7, the Court of Appeals ruled to detain Kocharyan on charges of usurping state power in March 2008.

Kocharyan, in a written statement, calls the court’s decision a “vendetta” against him and his family.
