Armenia is a country rich with cultural monuments dating back to the 4th millennium BC. There are some 33,000 historical and cultural monuments in Armenia under state protection, which are included in the State Register of National Heritage.
I was introduced to Zakaria Mildanoglu, the Armenian architect who worked on the restoration of the Holy Cross Church at Akhtamar. He told me that St. Kirakos now legally belongs to the Foundation set up by Istanbul-Armenians who spearheaded the restoration.
Kurds and Kurdistan have never felt so much promise. Federalism in Iraq is secure. Iraqi Kurdistan attracts billions of dollars in investment, Masud Barzani no longer needs a borrowed Turkish passport to travel abroad, and the Kurdistan Regional Government has offices which act as virtual embassies in Washington, London, and other major capitals
