Hayk Khachatryan a soldier serving in the Artsakh Defense Army, died today when a mine exploded at the eastern military outpost, mortally wounding him.
The highway starts from Armenia’s Gegharkounik province and stretches via the Shahoumyan district of Artsakh to the Martakert district. It’s 114.6 kilometer long and more than 10 meters wide in places, with some auxiliary facilities, including 17 renovated bridges of different sizes.
Instead of presenting their new teachers with flowers today, the first day of the new school year, first graders in the Kotayk village of Pyunik, escorted by their parents, gathered in the village square to protest an August 24 government decision that will close the school in two months and have the pupils attend classes in the the neighboring village of Artavaz.
