At this moment, Judge Edik Avetisyan is reviewing the motion of Vahagn Harutyunyan, who heads the Special Investigative Service and Inspector Vaghinak Mkrtchyan, requesting that “Haykakan Zhamanak” Chief Editor Nikol Pashinyan be given pre-trail detention. The hearing is taking place at the Kentron and Nork-Marash District Court.
Late word from the Nikol Pashinyan court hearing to decide whether the “Haykakan Zhamanak” editor would be served with pre-trial detention has been postponed at the request of his lawyers.
Today’s scheduled trial session in the case of former Abovyan mayor Grigor Voskerchyan was postponed. Mr. Voskerchyan, along with RoA National Assembly Deputy Sasun Mikayelyan, is the only two of the original “March 1st Seven” defendants still in detention. Deputy Mikayelyan has been sentenced to 8 years by the Kotayak Regional Court.
“I want justice. Even if ten years pass, I will clear my name. But I want a man named Martirosyan to clear my name and not one called Johnson. This is my wish,” Mr. Arzumanian concluded, adding that he wished to be exonerated in an Armenia where the values and principles he has struggled for will one day exist.
