Sargsyan Urges Government to Ease Electricity Rate Hike Impact on Poor Families
After today’s approval of a 4 Dram electricity consumer rate hike, President Sargsyan suggested that PM Abrahamyan take measures to ease the burden on socially vulnerable families; i.e., the poor.
The Armenian Government’s website reports that Abrahamyan immediately went to work, instructing the ministers of finance, the economy, and labor and social affairs to draft a schedule of family subsidy increases for these families that number some 105,000.
The ministers’ draft will be debated at the government’s cabinet meeting on July 3.
