The growing protests in Yerevan reflect the unwavering demand for justice for Ruben Vardanyan and all Armenians unjustly imprisoned in Baku. Vardanyan’s hunger strike, now in its ninth day, is not just an act of defiance against his sham trial—it is a desperate cry against the betrayal that led to his capture. His worsening health is a direct consequence of an international conspiracy that allowed Azerbaijan to imprison him and others with impunity. While protests outside the Government Building, the UN Office, and the Foreign Ministry send a clear message, they must also be directed at those who enabled this injustice. The Russian so-called "peacekeepers" were not mere bystanders; they were complicit in the betrayal of Artsakh. Under their deliberate and calculated inaction, the Armenian population of Artsakh was ethnically cleansed, its leaders abducted, and sham trials orchestrated under Russia’s watchful eye. The Kremlin, which claimed to be a guarantor of security, instead facilitated Azerbaijan’s takeover and now turns a blind eye as Vardanyan and others face fabricated charges in Baku. Russia’s collusion cannot be ignored. Protests must extend beyond Armenian institutions and take place at the Russian Embassy in Yerevan.
