Hakob Hakobyan Barrred From Today’s Trial
No witnesses were called during today’s trial session of National Assembly MP Hakob Hakobyan. Only two witnesses remain to be called – Moushegh Antonyan and Ashot Melkonyan.
The defendant was not present at today’s session as he was barred for outbursts he made during yesterday’s trial.
Mr. Antonyan had earlier petitioned the court not to call him as a witness since he was in Georgia and to accept his testimony given in the pre-trial examination.
Melanya Arustamyan, Mr. Hakobyan’s defense lawyer, questioned whether this petition and the transcript of the ealier testimony was really that of Mr. Antonyan himself. The attorney then said that Mr. Antonyan had been spotted in Yerevan by two individuals
Judge Gagik Avetisyan then declared that he seriously doubted that Mr. Antonyan was actually in Georgis and said that he would direct law enforcement to clarify his whereabouts.
The trial was then recessed.
