Armenia: Government to Assist Some Utility Consumers
The Armenian government says it will financially assist utility consumers in the amount of 50% of their February natural gas and electricity bills if they do not exceed 10,000 drams and 5,000 drams respectively.
Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, at a specially convened cabinet session today, said the measure is designed to mitigate the economic impact of the coronavirus crisis on those facing financial hardship.
The assistance will directly go to consumer accounts with the utility providers.
"Outstanding bills will be reduced. Those who do not have debts will be issued credit for future payments,” Grigoryan said.
