Armenian Health Minister: We Can't Afford to Let Our Guard Down

Armenian Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan, at today’s government cabinet session, said that the country cannot afford to let its guard down given the stable rise of Covid-19 cases.

Fifty new cases were confirmed earlier today, raising the total so far to 1,523.

"At the moment, we have ten extremely severe, about 230 people with pneumonia, five on artificial ventilators, one of whom is 27 years old. Doctors are doing everything possible to stabilize the situation. There is hope that we’ll be able to save their lives,” Torosyan said.

When asked by PM Nikol Pashinyan about the coronavirus in neighboring Iran, Torosyan replied: "Every day the number of new cases in Iran is less than the previous day, the same applies to deaths. Restrictions are easing, and the country seems to be gradually returning to normal. However, there is talk of a second wave.”
