Yerevan’s Zvartnots International Airport Still Humming Despite Scarcity of Officially Announced Flights

Although the arrival and departure chart featured on the website of Yerevan’s Zvartnots International Airport has been empty of late, given the ongoing coronavirus crisis, the airport itself is showing signs of life, albeit at much slower pace than normal.

Planes are flying in and out of the airport, but these flights are nowhere to be seen on the arrivals and departures board.

Belavia is the only international carrier now servicing Zvartnots with its Minks-Yerevan-Minsk scheduled flights.

In this case, we are mainly talking about one-time non-scheduled (charter) flights, which are operated by relatively small (including business class) aircraft. It is difficult to say who their passengers are, but such flights are not special.

Of course, in addition to these, there are also cargo flights and special flights, which return citizens to their countries (in recent days, particularly Damascus-Yerevan-Damascus, Baghdad-Yerevan-Baghdad, Beirut-Yerevan-Beirut, Kiev-Yerevan-Kiev, Almaty-Tbilisi-Yerevan-Karaganda flights, plus a number of flights from Yerevan to Russian cities).

Below are the flights that took place after April 30 with small planes (including business class planes; it is possible that some of them were transit flights). The data is taken from the flightaware.com website, which tracks flights online.
