Former Armenian President Robert Kocharyan, now on trial for bribery and the overthrow of constitutional order, never made it to court today.

Judge Anna Danibekyan announced that she had received a notice from the Izmirlian Medical Center that Kocharyan was receiving inpatient care and couldn’t make it to the court.

On May 13, Danibekyan received a notice from the hospital that Kocharyan had undergone surgery. No mention of the type of surgery has been forthcoming due to medical privacy laws in Armenia.

Kocharyan’s trial will recommence on May 26.
