MP Naira Zohrabyan Says Armenia Spiraling Towards "Chaos"

Taking the podium today in Armenia’s National Assembly, Prosperous Armenia MP Naira Zohrabyan said the government has no moral right to blames citizens for the recent rise of Covid-19 cases in the country.

“We have seen a dangerous and dishonest tendency in the past two days to place all the blames on irresponsible citizens,” Zohrabyan said, referring to recent remarks by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and other government officials.

Zohrabyan said that citizens should follow the health safety guidelines issued by the State of Emergency Command but added that some officials have made conflicting statements.

“One day they tell you not to wear a mask because it holds germs inside. The next day, they tell you to wear one,” Zohrabyan said, adding that it’s only natural that some are confused.

Given the increasing number of Covid-19 cases and deaths, MP Zohrabyan described the situation in the country as “on the brink of chaos”.

“A war has been declared on us all. There are no winners or losers. The state will lose if we can’t find a way out,” the member of parliament said.

Zohrabyan said that some physicians want to meet with Pashinyan, now in isolation after testing positive for Covid19, to discuss the situation.
