Artsakh Defense Army (ADA) Deputy Commander ColonelArtur Sargsyan, at a press conference today in Stepanakert, reported that Artsakh military forces have inflicted large equipment and personnel losses on Azerbaijani forces.
"According to verified data, ADA units, using anti-aircraft defense means, were able to hit three helicopters, about twenty drones, 30 tanks and infantry fighting vehicles,” Sargsyan announced.
He confirmed that sixteen Armenian servicemen had been killed in the fighting and more than one hundred had been wounded so far.
Sargsyan claimed that the fighting broke out this morning when Azerbaijani Armed Forces fired rockets and artillery shells at Artsakh military positions and civilian settlements, including the capital Stepanakert.
Sargsyan said that Azerbaijan employed planes and strike drones as well, followed by Azerbaijan special units launching a large-scale attack in the southern, northern and south-eastern directions.
"At the moment, fierce battles are still going on on the mentioned fronts,” Sargsyan said.
