Residents of villages near the northern Artsakh town of Martakert have left their homes and taken refuge in the forest.

Here are some photos of these people trying, as best they can, to go on with their lives against the backdrop of fighting along the Artsakh-Azerbaijani border not too far away.

One of the women proudly told us she has two sons in the army.

Some sleep outside in the woods, in makeshift shelters. Most, however, sleep in the vehicles.
