Stepanakert Deputy Minister: "50-60% of Residents Remain in City"

Stepanakert Deputy Mayor Suren Tamrazyan, at a press conference today, stated that 50-60% of the Artsakh capital’s population is still in the beleaguered city that has been targeted by Azerbaijani military missile attacks.

He said that those who have left for safer areas mostly include the elderly and children.

Tamrazyan said that earlier gas supply cuts were made by authorities for security reasons, adding that electricity power outages have been resolved and that water is provided around the clock.

"We have shelters that have been furnished. Our inhabitants are sheltered there. There are hotlines via which citizens connect with the municipality," said the deputy mayor.

Tamrazyan said the municipality is providing food, warm clothes and blankets to the sheltered residents.

He said that dozens of apartment buildings have been damaged in the city. The administrative buildings of Artsakhenergo and Karabakh Telecom were damaged but continue to operate.

Tamrazyan said that there were casualties among the civilian population because of the October 6-7 rocket attacks, but that data was still being collected.
