Armenian, French Foreign Ministers Stress Need for Immediate Implementation of Karabakh Ceasefire
Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, by telephone on October 28, discussed developments in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone following recent ceasefire agreements.
Mnatsakanyan, according to a statement released by his office, told his French counterpart that Azerbaijan has unilaterally renounced the three ceasefire agreements reached through the direct mediation of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs and continues the shelling and bombing of the civilian population of Artsakh with banned weapons.
Mnatsakanyan stated that Azerbaijan, encouraged by Turkey, is pursuing a policy to nullify the efforts of the Co-Chair countries in establishing a sustainable ceasefire.
Both sides stressed the need for the immediate implementation of agreements on the cessation of hostilities and to establish a sustainable ceasefire maintained through verification mechanisms. The Foreign Ministers also exchanged views on the agreement to hold a meeting in Geneva.
