Armenian Deputy FM Calls On Armenian Embassies to Intensify Artsakh Recognition Efforts

Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Avet Adonts, at a joint sitting of the Standing Committees on Financial-Credit, Budgetary Affairs and European Integration in the parliament today, said that the number one goal of Armenian embassies around the world is to ramp up efforts to get foreign governments to recognize Artsakh’s independence and the right of the Artsakh people to self-determination.

Adonts said that while such recognition by local municipalities and regional governments is to be commended, Armenian diplomatic posts overseas must reach out to national governments.

"We are in daily contact with our European partners both in Brussels and in other capitals, working in several areas, from the recognition of Artsakh's independence to the imposition of sanctions on Turkey,” Adonts said, summarizing the work of the foreign ministry.

Adonts spoke about the humanitarian aid provided to the displaced population of Artsakh, emphasizing that the ministry is doing its best to direct that aid to the displaced, the number of which is quite high.

He said that humanitarian aid is mainly provided through the International Committee of the Red Cross, to which money is transferred to purchase the necessary items.
