Captured Syrian Mercenaries Say Azerbaijani Commander Gave Them Psychotropic Drugs

The two Syrian mercenaries recently captured by Artsakh Defense Forces have told their Armenian interrogators that their Azerbaijani commander had distributed psychotropic drugs to the foreign combatants.

Armenian Investigative Committee Head Rafael Vardanyan, at a press conference in Yerevan on November 5, said that the two mercenaries, Yousouf Alaabet al-Haji, and Muhrab Mohammad Al Shkher, testified that they never used the drugs.

The mercenaries, charged with attempting to commit serious violations of international humanitarian law during an armed conflict and while perpetrating international terrorism, also testified that haven’t killed anyone.

Vardanyan said Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has informed Syria about the arrest of its citizens in Armenia, and measures are being taken to inform their relatives about the whereabouts and status of the detainees.

When asked about the conditions in which the Syrians are being held, Vardanyan said their security is ensured, stressing that these people are important for Armenia and Artsakh as proof to show the world that foreign mercenaries are fighting for Azerbaijan.
