Armenian Health Minister: 1,100 Covid-19 Patients in Serious Condition

Armenian Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan today said that the current uptick in Covid-19 cases was placing a slight strain on the country’s health sector.

Speaking to journalists at the National Assembly, Torosyan said that 861 people infected with the virus are waiting for their turn to be hospitalized and that some 1,100 individuals are in serious condition, of which 180 are listed as extremely serious.

73 individuals are now on artificial respirators.

Our problem is not the shortage of equipment, but the shortage of oxygen. There’s a global shortage. Our country's oxygen capacities are working at the limit. We are making a titanic effort so that there’s no sudden disruption," Torosyan said.

Referring to the medical care provided to wounded servicemen, Torosyan said dozens of medical centers in Yerevan and the provinces are involved and are doing a fine job.
