Pashinyan: "I'll stand before the court of public opinion"
Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan spoke today at the National Assembly about the recent war in Artsakh and said that he is the only one responsible for the military defeat and will answer for his shortcomings before the court of public opinion.
Pashinyan said he gambled on going to war rather than pursue political negotiations involving the return of the so-called liberated territories and lost.
He then said that not much had been done by the Artsakh government or outside organizations to make improvements in those areas for the Armenians who settled there. He said that only weeds had grown there over the past thirty years.
Speaking about the fall of Shushi, Pashinyan asked if it was so important why hadn’t anything been done in the past thirty years to improve it.
"Who sold Shushi? If they sold it, they sold it during the last 30 years, because Shushi was an unhappy, dull city. Did we need Shushi? If we needed it, why was it in that condition? Did we need the liberated territories? Why were they in that condition?" he asked.
Pashinyan said that the public should demand answers from him, but that he also has a right to demand answers from others for their actions over the [past two and a half years.
