Armenian Foreign Minister, MPs Discuss POW Issue

Armenian Foreign Minister Ara Ayvazyan and members of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Foreign Relations met today behind closed doors to discuss the results of the January 11 meeting in Moscow attended by the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The Moscow meeting focused on regional economic matters, specifically the unblocking of trade and communication links.

No headway was made on the return of Armenian POWs held by Azerbaijan.

Following today’s meeting, Ayvazyan said Armenia will continue its efforts to return all prisoners of war, hostages and clarify the fate of the missing.

"In this, the ministry cooperates with international partners," Ayvazyan said, adding that Armenia is ready to continue negotiations with the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs within the framework of the Artsakh peace process.

Ayvazyan said priority is given to the de-occupation of the territories of Artsakh and the return of the inhabitants to those settlements.
