A special session of Armenia’s parliament, organized by the Prosperous Armenia and Bright Armenia factions to discuss the political situation in the country, never saw the light of day.

Bright Armenia faction head Edmon Marukyan told reporters today that National Assembly Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan never showed up to officially convene the special session.

"The National Assembly Speaker does not exist. The parliament does not have a speaker," he said, emphasizing that Mirzoyan isn’t doing anything  to restore civil harmony.

Marukyan chided Mirzoyan for his absence and said that he is obliged to ensure the normal working of the parliament.

Marukyan said that he will be meeting with Armenian President Armen Sarkissian and does not agree with PM Pashinyan’s assessment that the top military brass attempted a coup the other day when they called on Pashinyan to resign.
