Armenia Beats Liechtenstein 1-0 in World Cup Qualifier

Armenia’s national football team scored a 1-0 victory over Liechtenstein in the opening match of the World Cup qualifying round.

Yesterday’s match took place in Vaduz’s Rainpark Stadium.

Armenia clearly had the advantage of the first half of the match with eleven shots on goal and 73% ball possession.

Under the tutelage of Armenian head coach Joaquín Caparrós, the Armenian footballers displayed fast and dynamic football, but couldn’t score a goal in the first half. Sargis Adamyan, Norberto Briasco Balekyan, Tigran Barseghyan, Andre Calisir failed to score when given the chance.

Off target strikes continued in the second half.

The Armenian footballers fired more than a dozen shots, but none of them appeared in the opponent's goal. Alexander Karapetyan missed several real goal chances.

In the end, what our football players failed to do, the Liechtenstein player did.

In the 83rd minute, Tigran Barseghyan hit the ball to the opponent's penalty where Liechtenstein midfielder Noah Frommelt sent the ball to his own goal.
