
World Cup Qualifying Round Wins Boost Armenia to 90th Spot in FIFA Rankings
After defeating Liechtenstein, Iceland and Romania in last month’s World Cup qualifiers, Armenia’s national football team advanced from 99th to 90th in the FIFA rankings. The team now has 1,273 rating points instead of the previous 1,233.
Belgium continues to lead the world list, followed by France, Brazil, England, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Argentina, Uruguay and Denmark.
In the 10th qualifying group of the 2022 World Cup, Germany is in the highest position among Armenia’s rivals, and has risen one place to 12th. Romania fell by six points and is now 43rd. Iceland dropped the same number, ranking 52nd. Advancing by three spots, Macedonia is now in 62nd place. Liechtenstein dropped by five points and is now 186th place.
Ukraine (24) has the highest ranking among former USSR countries, followed by Russia (38), Uzbekistan (86) and Belarus (89). The others are in lower positions than Armenia.
Turkey enjoys the highest ranking among Armenia’s neighbors (29), Iran ranks 31st, Georgia ranks 91st, and Azerbaijan ranks 110th.
The next FIFA ranking will be published on May 27.
