Bright Armenia Faction Wants Special Parliament Session to Discuss Border Situation

Edmon Marukyan, head of the Bright Armenia faction in the Armenian National Assembly, announced today that he is calling for a special legislative session to discuss the border stand-off and demand the declassification of a document released yesterday by Armenia's former ambassador to the Vatican Mikayel Minasyan.

Minasyan, on his Telegram channel, said the redacted document is a new agreement reached by Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia on the demarcation of the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Pashinyan today verified the authenticity of the document, but argued its details could not be published.

The head of the faction said this in a talk with journalists in the parliament.

"Once again, a document has been prepared behind the people's backs, the content of which neither the deputies nor, I think, most of the members of the government have any information about," Edmon Marukyan told reporters.

Marukyan said the Prosperous Armenia faction will support the call for a special parliamentary session.

33 deputies must sign the petition to convene a special session.

The Bright Armenia (Lusavor Hayastan) faction has seventeen MPs, Prosperous Armenia (Bargavatch Hayastan), 23.
