Azerbaijani Soldiers Block Goris-Kapan Highway in Armenia
Armenian Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan reports that some fifty Azerbaijani soldiers blocked the interstate road leading from Goris to Kapan, near the village of Davit Bek, yesterday for more than three hours and refused to open it.
Armenia’s National Security Service (NSS) confirmed the news and said that work was underway to reopen the roadway in Armenia’s southern Syunik Province.
The NSS, in an earlier statement, said that vehicles blocking the road have been removed.
Tatoyan, in a Facebook post, described the incident as “planned crime against the civilian population of Armenia”, adding that Russian and Armenian border guards held talks on the spot to reopen the road.
Tatoyan said he’s reported the incident to international bodies.
Whether the roadway is still closed remains unclarified.
