Armenia Wants to Extend Non-Ferrous Scrap Export Ban
Armenia’s Ministry of Economy wants to extend the export ban of non-ferrous scrap and waste for another six months.
The Armenian government decided to impose the ban in January 2021, arguing that the move would enable local industrial enterprises to develop their own production using non-ferrous metal scrap and waste.
"Scrap metal and waste are strategically important raw materials for Armenia since there is no production of non-ferrous metals in Armenia. The secondary processing of scrap and waste can fill the shortage of these products,” reads a bill introduced by the ministry.
