A gas explosion earlier today at a Unibank branch in the city of Ashtarak, a town of some 18,000 just north of Yerevan, killed one person and sent seven to local hospitals with burns and other injuries.

The victim was identified as Ruzanna Khachatryan, an employee of a cleaning company servicing the bank. The injured were bank employees.
