
Yerevan: Legendary Gymnast Albert Azaryan Dies
Legendary Armenian gymnast Albert Azaryan died in Yerevan today at the age of ninety-four.
Azaryan, nicknamed “King of the Rings” for his prowess in the sport, is a three-time Olympic champion, four-time world, and two-time European champion.
Azaryan was born on February 11, 1929 in Gharakilisa, Transcaucasian SFSR.
A bust in his honor was unveiled last December in the courtyard of a children’s sports school named after him in Yerevan.
