Armenia's Football Team Advances to 103rd Spot in FIFA Ranking
Armenia has advanced two spots in the latest FIFA ranking of men’s national football squads.
After losing to Portugal 0-5 and beating Ireland 2-1 this month, the Armenian national team is now ranked 103rd out of 210 teams.
The world has a new football leader: reigning European champion Spain, followed by France. Reigning world champion Argentina has dropped to third place. Following Argentina, in descending order, are England, Portugal, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Croatia, and Italy.
The highest ranking among the former USSR countries is Ukraine (28), followed by Russia (33), Uzbekistan (54), Georgia (68), Belarus (100). The other teams are in lower positions than the Armenian team.
Among Armenia's neighbors, Iran is 21st, Turkey - 27th, Georgia - 68th, and Azerbaijan is 124th in the world.
The next FIFA ranking will be published on October 23. On October 11 and 14, the Hungary-Armenia and Ireland-Armenia matches will be held.
