Will Ter-Petrosyan Be Too Old To Run In 2013?
Arman Melikyan, a former Artsakh foreign minister, stated at a press conference today that Levon Ter-Petrosyan will be too old to run for the presidency of Armenia in the 2013 election.
The RA Constitution however, only states that a candidate must be at least 35 years-old and have been a citizen for the past ten years and have resided in the country on a permanent basis for that length of time.
The constitution says nothing about the maximum age a candidate can be. (Ter-Petrosyan will be 68 in 2013).
Melikyan, who also ran for Armenia's presidency in 2008, continued by saying that HAK would have to change the constitution if Ter-Petrosyan was to enter the race and to do this they would have to negotiate with the government.
