French Police Arrest Scores of Armenian, Georgian Gang Members in Pre-Dawn Raids

According to French press reports, more than twenty Armenian and Georgian criminal gang members were arrested last Friday morning in pre-dawn police raids in the south-east of France.

Those arrested were suspected of carrying out hundreds of robberies of stores and other commercial enterprises.

The magazine “Nouvelles d'Arménie” reports that the suspects did not resist police efforts to arrest them and that no shots were fired by either side.

The gang members seem to have preferred stealing jewellery, cash, photographic equipment and other home electronics.

It is said that the jewellery was sent to Belgium, ostensibly to be fenced, and the rest of the ill-gotten gains were shipped to the Caucasus.
