Zhoghovurd Slander Suit Postponed Pending Document
At today’s hearing in the slander case launched by Benik Harutyunyan against the Zhoghovurd newspaper, the court sustained a motion by the defendant to postpone the trial until it could get its hands on some original documents pertaining to the case.
The defendant has requested that the U.S. Embassy and Nune Serobyan provide the original court verdict used by the Zhoghovurd reporter as the basis for the allegedly slanderous article.
The article cites the claim of U.S. citizen Nune Serobyan and her business partner that Benik Harutyunyan received $294,000 from them and hasn’t returned it.
The court scheduled the next session for January 31, 2012.
