Today, the 96th anniversary of the 1915 Armenian Genocide, commemorations took place in five Turkish cities – Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Diyarbakir and Bodrum.
Traditional torch procession in the memory of the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey took place in Tbilisi, Georgian April 23. The procession concluded their route at the Embassy of Turkey in Georgia, where the participants expressed their protest against the Turkish gag rule on the issue of the Armenian Genocide.
We solemnly remember the horrific events that took place ninety-six years ago, resulting in one of the worst atrocities of the 20th century. In 1915, 1.5 million Armenians were massacred or marched to their death in the final days of the Ottoman Empire.
In 1915-1923 a crime against the Armenian nation, against humanity and civilization was committed, which at the time had no name. All the names and definitions – moral, legal, or political – given later are only provisional and only in part reflect what had really happened
