Members of the European Parliament Eleni Theocharous, Frank Engel, Tatjana Zdanoka, Ewald Stadler, Inaki Irazabalbeitia, Michele Rivasi, as well as Deputy of the Spanish Parliament Jon Inarritu issued statement on the twentieth anniversary of the ceasefire agreement.
Visiting French President Francois Hollande, escorted by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, today participated in the official opening of the Missak Manouchian Park in Yerevan.
Prior to French President François Hollande's arrival to Mashtots Park, Armenian police forcefully removed peaceful activists who had gathered at the park to protest a ceremony to rename the park after French national hero, French-Armenian poet Missak Manouchian.
Several activists in Mashtots Park were detained earlier today by police. One of them, Ani Khachatryan, speaking with Hetq from the Kentron police division, said they were simply standing as a group, doing nothing in the park when police picked them up.
