Yerevan-Istanbul Air Passengers Exempted from Paying 10,000 AMD Fee

Citizens of Armenia flying to Istanbul will be exempted from paying the 10,000 AMD “air fee” for the next three years.

On January 10, Armenia’s Civil Aviation Committee (ACAC) allowed the Turkish Pegasus Airlines to launch non-regular (charter, seasonal) Istanbul-Yerevan-Istanbul flights. During the first week of February, there will be two flights (according to the Pegasus schedule, on February 2 and 5), and from February 7 to March 27 - three flights a week (Monday, Thursday and Saturday).

Fly One Armenia announced that it will start operating non-scheduled flights twice a week (Mondays and Fridays) on the Yerevan-Istanbul-Yerevan route starting on February 2.

In April, when the summer air season begins, the Armenian operator will operate three weekly flights (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays). The air carrier received a flight permit from the ACAC in December and from Turkish aviation authorities in January.

Fly One Armenia will operate flights between Yerevan’s Zvartnots Airport (EVN) and the new Istanbul Airport (IST), which opened in 2018 and is currently the main air gate serving the city replacing Atatürk Airport. Pegasus will fly between Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (SAW) and Zvartnots Airport.

In December 2019, the Armenian parliament amended the law on state duty and exempted individuals travelling to newly opened destinations within 36 months from the 10,000 AMD “air fee”.

Those flying from Gyumri's Shirak Airport have been exempted from the "air fee" since December 2014.

Pegasus Airlines, according to its permit application, will use Airbus A320, Airbus A321 and Boeing 737 type planes on the Istanbul-Yerevan route and Fly One Armenia will use Airbus A320 aircraft.
