A group of concerned Armenians protested outside the Armenian Government building, demanding that officials nullify a decision taken on April 28 of this year declaring various community lands in Syuniq as “eminent domain” and leasing them to the Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine.

As of August 1, the town of Kajaran saw 181.7 hectares of communal land seized and handed over to the mining concern.

Other rural communities affected by the decree are Artzanik, Sevaqar, Atchanan, Chapni and Syuniq.
