Armenia’s Investigative Unit of the Ministry of Defense has dropped all criminal proceedings against the son of the former Syunik Governor Surik Khachatryan and his bodyguard regarding their involvement in a shoot-out that occurred near the house of Khachatryan on the night of June 1.
Referring to the recent shooting in the town of Goris, RA Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan told reporters yesterday during a trip to the Armenian border region of Tavoush that there was no “culture of impunity” in the country.
Heritage Party MP Zarouhie Postanjyan has written to RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan regarding the current status of Sourik Khachatryan, Provincial Governor of Syunik.
The following criminal charges have been filed against the Tigran Khachatryan, the son of Syunik Provincial Governor Sourik Khachatryan, and bodyguard Zarzand Nikoghosyan, in connection with the June 1 shooting outside the home of the governor’s home in Goris.
“I regret that I could not prevent the tragic incident that occurred near my house. Now, all questions will be given an objective examination,” Khachatryan’s statement reads.
Goris Police have arrested the son and bodyguard of Syunik Provincial Governor Sourik Khachatryan on suspicion of involvement in a shoot-out on June 1 that left one dead and two wounded.
As a result of a shoot-out near Khachaturyan's home in Goris, Artak Boudaghyan, Commander of the N Artsakh Military Unit, is in serious condition and his brother, Avetik, was killed on the spot.
