Armenia’s State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC) today fined ArmenTel 30 million AMD for applying a differentiated rate schedule for its internet users without prior notification.
Today, the RA State Committee to Protect Economic Competitiveness announced that it would be fining drug importer and retailer Natali Pharm 50 million AMD for unfair business practices.
The revealed problems and registered achievements during 2011 in the area of responsibility of the Commission are presented below, though they are not exhaustive.
The findings show that 109 of the medical institutions violated laws pertaining to tender bids for drugs and that in 66, the bidding process was completely absent.
“Coconut oil is another food additive. But it was the SCEP who fined those companies. Now the Food Safety Agency is looking into the matter,” Minister Karapetyan said.
The three companies fined were Ashtarak Milk, Marianna and Ani Milk. The first two companies enjoy an 80% share of the dairy market in Armenia
The SCPEC found that while the coffee was marketed as 100% pure, it also contained traces of barley, walnut, wheat and other elements.
Laboratory testing has revealed that some firms are actually selling margarine spreads under the guise of butter at various Yerevan stores.
The RA State Committee for Economic Protection has fined the Fresh supermarket chain 500,000 AMD for false advertising practices.
