A lawyer representing Vardan Setrakyan, the presidential candidate who was recently arrested on charges of ordering the shooting of Paryur Hayrikian, stated today that a court’s decision to hold his client for two months pre-trial detention is unconstitutional.
Vardan Setrakyan, a candidate who ran in the February 18 presidential election in Armenia, has just been arrested on suspicion of ordering the January 31 shooting of Paryur Hayrikian.
Presidential candidate Vardan Sedrakyan told reporters today that he believes that a “deal” has been struck between Paryur Hayrikian and the government that might lead to Hayrikian being offered a position in the post-election government.
Sedrakyan said that he would recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia if elected president, adding that he would do the same regarding Artsakh and even that of Nakhijevan.
