Gagik Tsarukyan, whose Prosperous Armenia Party came in a distant second in yesterday’s Yerevan Municipal Council election, today congratulated the winner, the Im Kayl (My Step) Alliance.
The Im Kayl (My Step) Alliance scored a crushing victory in yesterday’s Yerevan Municipal Council election, garnering 81.06 % of the vote, according to the preliminary results from all 475 precincts.
The highest voter turnout was recorded in the Nork-Marash administrative district (47.01%).
Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission reports that 294,534 voters out of an electorate of 848.343 went to the polls.
Responding to reporters on the scene, Pashinyan said today’s election differs from past elections because citizens are now certain that their votes make a difference and will be duly registered.

Hayk Marutyan, who heads the Im Kayl (My Step) Alliance ticket in today’s Yerevan Municipal Council election, told reporters, after casting his ballot, that if elected Yerevan mayor he’d first tackle the garbage problem in the Armenian capital.
Naira Zohrabyan, who heads the Prosperous Armenia Party’s (PAP) ticket in today’s race for Yerevan Municipal Council, was spotted earlier at a poolhall called the Billard Bar, in the Ajapnyak district of Yerevan, which serves as the party’s campaign office in this part of town.
The Independent Observer monitoring group says it has received reports that representatives of the Im Kayl (My Step) Alliance have been seen delivering pizzas, juice and water to several polling stations during today’s Yerevan Municipal Council election.
