Nareg Hartounian’s case is just another example of serious and widespread violations of human rights in Armenia. What makes this case particularly troubling is the fact that it may also stand out as a serious violation of property rights. Well, let’s hope that it will not be the outcome.
At a press conference earlier today, Nareg Hartounian noted that many officials in Armenia are abusing their powers out of an insatiable thirst for money.
The State Revenue Committee added that by agreeing to do so, “it had offered them the opportunity to more effectively pay their tax debts.”

The RA Minister for Diaspora Affairs, Hranoush Hakobyan, stated today that she will not comment on the arrest of Nareg Hartounian.
Nothing could have made more a mockery of the Armenian “justice” system than the recent arrest of Nareg Harutunian in Yerevan this past week. We cannot afford to lose men and women like him. They are the people who keep our country and our world moving forward. We are also running petitions at the Naregatsi Art Institute. If you are in Yerevan, please visit and show your support.
My true Friend! A true friend to many! The only friend to many in need… Nareg Hartounian is one of the few "crazy" patriots of his country and a fighter for our Armenian heritage.
