Armenian HRD Calls on Pashinyan to Release Full Text of Border Demarcation Document

Armenian Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan has called on the government to publish the full draft of a document, released yesterday by Armenia's former ambassador to the Vatican Mikayel Minasyan that purports to be a new agreement reached by Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia on the demarcation of the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Acting Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan today verified the authenticity of the document, most of which was redacted, and said it’s in the best interests of Armenia.

Pashinyan said the document cannot be fully revealed because it would not be “politically correct” to do so.

Tatoyan said that border demarcation with Azerbaijan “directly refers to the vital rights of all of us, every person living in Armenia, the entire Armenian people”, and that such a document must be made public.

Doing otherwise, Tatoyan argued, would lead to further speculation and confusion on matters of national import.
